Writing Your Story: Finding Emotional
Freedom in Writing
$25/person

Date: Friday, November 1st
Time: 1:15 - 3:15pm (AK Time Zone!)
Location: Virtual (Zoom)

Description: Feelings of overwhelm are common in today’s hectic world. Writing is a way to calm your mind and access the truths you want to share with the world. My goal as a writer and as a teacher is to help others feel less alone and give them the tools they need to help tell their own story. In this session, we’ll use reflective writing exercises to help us get started telling our own stories and discuss how writing can be used as a tool to help us process our lives. You will walk away with a fresh ideas and a better idea of what story needs to be told. This class is a great option for beginners who want to explore the world of creative nonfiction and establish a regular writing process, or advanced writers who are looking for generative exercises to help them start/continue a piece of writing.

Writers of all skill levels, including beginners, are welcome.

Workshops for Creative Non-Fiction

Interested in taking your writing to the next level? Want feedback from other writers? A workshop would be a great choice for you. These workshops are for those who are newer to the craft of writing or those with some experience who want feedback. See the FAQ and options below.

FAQs

  • Workshops are popular in creative writing. They are a process for writers to get feedback from others on their writing. This allows them to practice specific areas of craft, learn from others, and move a piece towards publication.

  • 3 weeks.

At the beginning of the 3 weeks, I will send you a document that includes lessons on craft and a writing prompt for you to complete.

After a week, you will send me your finished writing prompt and I will send this out to the group (4-5 people). You will have a week to read everyone’s writing and prepare edits and feedback. Don’t worry! If you’ve never done this before, I will provide instructions on how to provide workshop feedback.

We will meet in week 3 via Google Meets or Zoom to discuss one another’s writing.

  • Your fee includes a craft lesson, writing exercises, feedback from others and myself, and final feedback from me. You will be allowed to send me your work once more after the workshop for edits. No time restraints.

  • Individual Workshops are run in a very similar manner as the group workshop, except you are working one-on-one with me. You will also have the option to choose a 2, 3, or 4-week time period.
